Nick Scarlett is a partner in Caldwell’s Auckland office, working with C-suite executives and board directors across a variety of sectors. He also heads the APAC Financial Services Practice.
Nick has placed the CEO at Milford Asset Management, Takeovers Panel, SmartShares (NZX company), BODCO Dairy Ltd., Crockers Property and is currently working on CEO searches for TSB (Bank) and The Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation (“NZ Superfund”) as well as board directors for the $100m Maori Direct Investment Fund.
Nick brings international and domestic executive leadership experience attained via roles at Fortune 500 companies and 15 years of experience working in markets across Asia including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, Australia and, for the past 12 years, New Zealand. He has managed teams of 500 people, 850,000 policies held by customers, associated claims of $300m, net cash flows $350m, AUM $15b, and operating earnings of $120m. His previous roles include executive director of Eagle Star Int’l and Zurich Int’l, where he was responsible for execution of the APAC growth strategy; regional VP for former AIG companies, working across Private Bank/Asset Mgt/Consumer Credit & Protection/Accident & Health; American International Assurance (AIA); Nan Shan Insurance & Philam Life; CEO of AIA New Zealand; and executive roles at AXA & AMP.
Nick has served on the Financial Services Council of New Zealand (formerly-the Investment Savings & Insurance Association); Advicefirst Board; the Quality Advice Network Advisory Board and the Committee for Collective Investment Schemes to the Hong Kong Securities & Futures Commission. He has also been a member of the Health Funds Association of NZ & also held Directorships for AIA Financial Services Network & AIA NZ
Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in economics & geography from Middlesex University, London.
