John Wasley is the leader of Caldwell Partners’ Board of Directors and Real Estate practices and a member of the Los Angeles office. His executive search practice focuses on recruiting senior executives in diversified financial services, where he specializes in real estate, investment banking, commercial banking, and commercial finance, as well as board directors across a variety of industries. With more than 15 years of executive search experience, he has represented a variety of real estate and financial services clients, including developers, investors, financial institutions and private equity firms.

John joined Caldwell Partners from Heidrick & Struggles, where he served in a variety of management roles, including partner in charge of the Los Angeles office, managing partner of the Western United States and managing partner of the Real Estate Practice in the Americas. Previously, he was an executive director with Russell Reynolds in their Los Angeles office. He began his executive search career in 1995 at DHR International.

Prior to his recruiting career, John served as senior vice president of People’s Bank of California, where he was responsible for managing the construction lending, special assets, loan servicing, and corporate real estate departments. He also served as the senior vice president of PPCCP, which is a publicly traded mortgage REIT. John began his career in acquisitions with a Los Angeles-based real estate opportunity fund, ultimately becoming its chief financial officer. He subsequently ran a private real estate development firm specializing in single family and multi-family real estate.

John is on the board of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, and is the chairman of the board of the Episcopal School of Los Angeles. He is a past chairman of the Los Angeles Business Council and of Chrysalis, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping economically disadvantaged individuals achieve self-sufficiency through employment, along with service on other community based organizations. John is also a member of the NACD and the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

John holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles.
